Yummy Yorkshire
Requirements
To extend the existing ice-cream parlour and café to create extra space to accommodate increased visitor numbers.
The new-look Yummy Yorkshire should improve customer flow and experience; creating a separate café and restaurant, while also delivering an eat-in and take-out ice cream parlour.
Outcomes
Blending seamlessly within its rural setting in the Pennines, the building successfully combines old and new. Contemporary twists such as a glass roof link complement the traditional farmhouse look and feel, reflecting and making the most of the building’s position at the heart of a working farm.
We are really pleased with how the design progressed, especially the connections between old and new. We love how MWA restored some of the original features of the barn to breathe new life into the building.
“We knew that it was really important for the business to remain operational throughout the construction process. Our design allowed a phased construction that was completed in sections, with the last element opening into the existing café. Building in this way minimised disruption and ensured that visitors continued to enjoy the Yummy Yorkshire experience.”
