From humble seating to designing and manufacturing innovative commercial furniture in over 50 countries, Connection has experienced exceptional growth as a British manufacturer.
BACKGROUND
Connection has experienced exceptional growth in its 20-year history and was looking to support its ambition with a new and larger manufacturing facility and head office.
Retaining its Huddersfield base, but moving from its facility at Fenay Bridge, Connection acquired a unit at Mirfield 25 Commercial Park and looked to facilitate a bespoke and complete remodel inside and out.
Connection had a clear vision for its new home and invested considerably in adapting the space and making it their own.
REQUIREMENTS
Contract Administrators on the project, while also completing building regulations.
INSIGHT
Connection required a building that could better accommodate its organisational goals and ambitions for the future.
Choosing to acquire an existing unit, Connection capitalised upon the opportunity to transform the space.
The original footprint spanned two floors and consisted of a 3,560 sqm warehouse and 1,000 sqm of multi-use office and technical space.
Connection had a clear vision for its new home and invested considerably in adapting the space and making it their own. We work hard to accommodate our clients’ needs and are proud to have played a key role in helping this hugely respected British designer and manufacturer to bring their vision to life.
CHALLENGES
Changes mid-construction were inspired by seeing the environment develop. As a result, a customer suite was integrated into the redevelopment.
OUTCOME
A new warehouse and production area has been created.
A two-storey facility has been transformed into a single-floor level.
Open plan work areas are highly visible to staff and customers visiting the premises.
The new facility has allowed us the opportunity to furnish our production space with a new suite of equipment, allowing us to further boost capacity across manufacturing lines. We have upgraded to state-of-the-art bar-coding systems and introduced further efficiencies in the packaging stages of production with a big emphasis on the environment and reducing cardboard waste.
