Bell Lighting

BELL Lighting, part of the BELL Group of companies, is a family-run business that was established in 1920.

Initially a lamp factory based in Wimbledon, London, the company specialised in manufacturing unique incandescent decorative light sources.

Today, they are based in Normanton, a town in Wakefield, and are a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-quality light sources and fixtures to the electrical wholesale industry.

BACKGROUND

Due to an increase in the demand for its products, BELL Lighting needed to increase its outputs.

To facilitate this growth, BELL Lighting needed to redevelop its manufacturing facility to create a new National Distribution Centre, which would facilitate next day delivery across the UK and southern Ireland.

We love supporting growth and transforming buildings to the exact requirements of our clients. Bell Lighting is on an inspiring journey, and its new home will play an essential role in this.

OUTCOME

BELL Lighting’s facility was redeveloped to the exact specification of the client.

The redevelopment included a gym, showroom, boardroom, customer experience area, canteen and testing spaces.

Logistics and office space doubled!

The testing and QC laboratory was expanded to meet customer demand.

A customer suite was installed to perfectly present products and services to the company’s client base.

Service doors, dock levellers, personnel doors, window frames and roof were repaired where appropriate.

Full tests for electrical installations, gas system and fire alarm system commissioning, risk assessment and water chlorination certification also took place.

A BUILDING THAT WORKS HARDER

Their new National Distribution Centre is fit for the future and equipped to support growth.

The warehouse and office space has helped to improve efficiencies.

The facility now provides 6,588 pallet locations, over 2,100 saleable product lines and the capacity to achieve 300 daily deliveries.

Production targets have been achieved – over 10 million units a year.

The refurbishment has amplified the brand and created a look and feel that reflect the company’s market-leading credentials.

The new site will be completely refurbished inside and out, providing the warehouse and office space to accommodate growth and efficiencies while also creating a look a feel that is worthy of the company's market-leading credentials.
