MWA Safe And Secure With Latest HARIBO Project

Working with some of the UK’s biggest brands is nothing new for the MWA team, but our most recent HARIBO project has been hailed as a sweet success.

Having now completed our sixth HARIBO store, this time at the newly constructed McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands, we wanted to share how our design approach was centred around safety without compromising the look and feel that customers have come to expect from the Happy World of HARIBO.

The brief was to create an instore layout that would enable customers to feel safe whilst experiencing the same excitement that shopping for your favourite treats brings.

As specialists in making buildings work harder and the architects and principal designers on HARIBO’s McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands store, we drew on our experience and expertise to transform the 1480 sq. ft unit into a functional space that is fit for the new retail environment.

Given that Covid safety measures had to be a key consideration throughout the fit-out process, we designed a store where the layout allows browsing freely throughout the store without the risk of close proximity.

Safeguards for HARIBO employees were also installed. In conjunction with SIM Shopfitters, the MWA team reconfigured the store counter to include a protective screen and created a bespoke, easily accessible hand sanitising station.

Before taking on this brief, we knew that customers’ expectations have changed and that their shopping experiences go far beyond just searching for the perfect products. It’s about providing a safe and fun shopping experience for the entire journey, from the moment the store is entered up until they leave.

Now the retail sector has reopened we expect this latest HARIBO store, with its fantastic selection of treats and merchandise from around the world, to bring joy and happiness to shoppers while providing a glimpse into the happy world of HARIBO.

“Shopping experiences go far beyond just searching for the perfect products. It's about providing a safe and fun shopping experience for the entire journey, from the moment the store is entered up until they leave.
