Matthew Robinson, Architect and Director, is celebrating 20 years long service at Dewsbury-based architects, Martin Walsh Architectural (MWA).
Following a successful summer placement, Matthew joined the firm in 1999 as a Junior Technician. Through a combination of hands on experience and extensive study, the business supported the budding architect through a BTEC and HNC in construction, followed by a 13-year architecture degree which Matthew studied part time alongside his day job at MWA.
Having enjoyed a long and successful career with the business, Matthew has progressed through the ranks to become a pivotal member of the senior team.
“I feel incredibly lucky that the business was willing to invest heavily in me from an early stage and this, without a doubt, has helped me to get to where I am today.
“Throughout my time at MWA I’ve been treated like a member of the family and to this day we try to implement the same approach with our staff and to give them every opportunity to reach their potential.”
Now an experienced architect, Matthew specialises in the commercial and industrial sectors; while as Technical Director, he takes responsibility for bringing in blue chip clients, quoting and running projects from concept to completion whilst also managing staff within the office.
Martin Walsh, owner of MWA, comments:
“Seeing Matt’s progression from budding architect to accomplished director and shareholder at the practice has been extremely rewarding.
“Developing our staff to the highest levels has always been of great importance to us and Matt’s dedication and commitment to the business makes all of this worthwhile. He is a great example of how this investment continues to shape the future of our organisation and is one of the reasons why this approach will always be a part of what we do.”
With employee development having long been a priority, over 40 years, more than 18 team members have been supported through additional architectural qualifications, a significant achievement and investment for a practice of its size.
Now one of the district’s leading architectural firms, recent wins at both regional business and industry specific awards pay homage to the team’s expertise and to their commitment to producing aesthetically pleasing buildings which work harder for their owners.
